This change impacts several models, including:

  • Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Motorola: Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E (2014)
  • HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601
  • LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90
  • Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V

iOS Devices:

For iPhone users, WhatsApp will require iOS 15.1 or newer starting May 5, 2025.

Devices unable to upgrade beyond iOS 12.5.7, such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus, will be affected.

Recommendations for Users:

  • Check Your Device’s OS Version: Ensure your smartphone’s operating system meets WhatsApp’s minimum requirements.
  • Update if Possible: If your device supports a newer OS version, update it to maintain WhatsApp access.
  • Consider Upgrading Hardware: If your device cannot run the required OS, consider upgrading to a newer model to continue using WhatsApp.
  • Backup Your Data: Before transitioning to a new device, back up your chats and media to prevent data loss.

These measures are part of WhatsApp’s efforts to enhance security and introduce advanced features that require more recent hardware and software capabilities.
